He picked us up at the Mahogany Bay port and was very personable and likeable. He took us straight to Daniel Johnson's to beat the crowds he knew would be heading there as well! He did a great job of getting us there early - we were like #45-49 of guests for the day. He also pointed us toward one of the local artisans who had her wares on display, and I am so grateful! I was able to buy this lovely mahogany tray with matching appertif cups for an unbelievable price! After we were done playing with the sloths and the monkeys he took us on a drive around the area, including down to the other cruise port in Coxen Hole. He recommended a local bar/restaurant for lunch. He said he was there often, and in fact on some days it served as his 'office' - I don't know about anyone else, but I could be okay with that office as well! After we ate lunch we strolled around the West End for a bit before he finally took us back to the cruise terminal to return to our ship. My husband loved the area so much that we are looking at possibly returning for a week's stay in the future.gbernstein2019-04-29Excellent SUP Experience Steve picked our group of 20 up from the cruise terminal and took us to his beach paradise. It was a wonderful day for all of our friends. The kids loved the paddleboards and the anchored sailboat out in the bay with the swingrope was a big hit. Lunch was delicious with local fish grilled and fried. Just an amazing relaxing day. Thank you!tjgordon2018-04-13A fun day We had a great day with Verity and Steve. We paddled in Half Moon Bay and realized, after having some issues, that it was too windy and choppy to go out on a longer tour. Instead we jumped off the boat in the bay for a while, paddled around a bit and then snorkeled around the bay. It turned out to be a fun day for everyone. We loved Verity! She was so nice and accommodating and patient! We would highly recommend spending part of your time in Roatan with Verity and Steve!Kristen H2017-11-03BEST place in the Island for Paddle Boarders!! I have been coming to Roatan for approximately 20 years now to visit my father. I used to come visit while I was on leave from the Coast Guard on short trips... Never really got out and did much recreational stuff on the Island. We always managed to make it to an amazing little beach bar called Sundowners... this is a “ MUST GO TO” little local bar if you visit Roatan and Steve has his Paddle Shack nestled right next door. This trip, I took my boyfriend to meet dad and give my FAVORITE sport a go on the island. Here is why I can not say enough about this place or owner... It’s the rainy season here, everyone is pretty much closed down, but Steve came in on an off day and met us, gave us boards for the whole day for an extremely fair price!! There are not many companies out there anymore where you can get this sort of personal and yet extremely professional service. He helped my boyfriend with extra instruction and guidance as well and we had a wonderful experience!! Amazing place! Thank you Steve!!tarnswhite2017-08-17Great way to spend an afternoon We enjoyed our time with Steve who was informative and engaging. None of us had tried this before but we were soon paddling around the bay. Not sure it's something I would rush to do again but it was fun to tryShari N2017-07-22An Active & Informative Cruise Excursion My husband and I just returned from our cruise to the Western Caribbean, which included Roatan, Mohagony Bay Port. We wanted something active so we searched paddle boarding and found Steve's. This is much better than a day at the beach renting SUP's by the hour for a ridiculous price because Steve brings his experience and history on the island and provides an authentic experience. Steve is an ex-pat from California, but has a family history on the island where family members before him moved there. My one tip is to clarify whether the pick up time is island time (2 hours behind EST) or Ship time. We had to use a local's phone at the port because we were 2 hours early, but Steve came right out and it was fine. Also, when walking to the pick up area, we were a little confused because we were the first off the boat and had no one to follow. It's just through the shops, right through the orange building that sells passport stamps and then past the taxis, up the stairs and down the hill to a waiting area. There are lots of people selling their excursions- I highly recommend booking online beforehand for an excursion here. The people were very friendly though and helped us find Steve and call him. Details: Neither of us had paddle boarded before, but we are relatively coordinated and active, so it was easy to learn. He paddled with us the entire time for about 90 minutes- but there was no time limit. It was a gorgeous beach in the West End. We had time to swim and explore a bit on our own at the end. We ate lunch at Sundowner's, which is a locals' bar with good food and good beers. Tracy was the bartender who had moved from Canada several years ago and we loved chatting with her. Then Steve took us snorkeling for about 45-60 mins, and he pointed out lots of cool creatures. The reef was the most beautiful I've ever seen, and it was so close! We just walked into the water and swam right to it without issues. This was just a chill day with chill people. Steve gave us a tour of West Bay too at the end- he told us all about the island going to and from the port. I can't say enough good things- this was a great escape from the noise of the cruise and other commercialized excursions. There were very few people there and it was truly an authentic island experience. We highly recommend to those who want something authentic and active.Paul B2017-06-06Amazing Experience Sorry this is long overdue. My wife and I booked with Steve last year and could not have been happier with our decision. Luckily the day we booked was not busy and we were the only two on the tour. Steve personally picked us up and after a memorable beginning evolving Steve's van being booted by the police for a "parking violation" we were on our way. Steve provided a great tour of the island before heading to the paddle boarding, he was very knowledgeable and fun to talk with. Once we got to the boarding, he was informative on the techniques and we were off and paddling in the open ocean in no time. We spent a couple hours out paddling and then came in for a fabulous lunch and drinks at a local bar right next to his shack. Again, the staff there was great as was the food and the "Monkey La La's" which I particularly enjoyed. We were so impressed with everything that we were inspired to purchase our own paddle boards back here in Ohio so we could continue this great sport on our own. A huge thanks to Steve and keep up the great work. If we are every in Roatan again, we will definitely book with Steve again.michneill2017-05-02Paddle Boards and So Much More! We had the good fortune to meet Steve (via an introduction at the bar beside his Paddle Shack). The server overheard us talking about wanting to travel to the east end of the island, and as luck would have it she recommended Steve. Steve picked us up on time at our resort, and between his recommendations and our request to visit Camp Bay, we had an amazing day. Along the way, based on Steve’s family history with the island, he shared so many stories that you won’t find anywhere in any tour book. After a beautiful walk along the beach in Camp Bay, Steve took us to La Sirena De Camp Bay Restaurant for lunch…simply incredible. If you are looking for an authentic tour of this beautiful island with a guy you can trust…you must give Steve a call!Downtown692017-03-14Awesome Boarding Day Booked over the net with Steve. He picked my daughter and I up at the cruise port in Mahogany Bay. Had a great tour of the island, then he set us up with some nice SUP boards. We toured on our own, then ventured out the channel through the reef to explore some more. We came back and Steve gave us some snorkels to check out the bay. We came back in for a few adult beverages before Steve returned us to our ship in good time. The place is setup great and the environment is very friendly. We were treated like family....Highly recommend hooking up with Steve. Give him your times for arrival and departure at port, and he will make it happen. Be aware of the local time. It was one hour behind "ship time" ....but no worries....Thanks Steve
