I’m Steve Hutton, the owner and operator, and I’m thrilled to share a little bit about myself and the story behind this venture.
Although I was raised in the sun-soaked landscapes of California, my family’s roots have been intertwined with the beautiful island of Roatan for generations. My great uncle was among the first foreigners, or ‘gringos,’ to settle here back in the 1950s, and ever since, Roatan has been a cherished part of our family history. It was only natural that I felt drawn to this place, and a few years ago, I decided to make Roatan my permanent home.
With a background in Recreation Administration and a minor in Business, along with a special focus on Natural Resources, I’ve always had a passion for outdoor activities and the natural environment. Before making the leap to island life, I was an Early Childhood Educator and owned and directed a Montessori Preschool in Lake Tahoe, California. That experience helped shape my love for community and teaching, which I bring into every tour I guide.
When I arrived in Roatan, I noticed an opportunity to introduce something new and exciting—standup paddleboarding. I was the first to bring this popular sport to the island, and it has since become a favorite activity for both locals and visitors alike. But I didn’t stop there. My love for Roatan, its stunning natural beauty, and its vibrant culture inspired me to offer a variety of tours that showcase the island’s true essence. From paddleboarding across crystal-clear waters to exploring hidden snorkeling spots and guiding you through the island’s rich cultural tapestry, my goal is to provide you with an unforgettable experience.
